Brendan Waddell

Professor Brendan Waddell is a graduate of UWA (BSc (Hons), 1981; PhD, 1986) and completed postdoctoral training at the Eastern Virginia Medical School where he studied placental regulation of primate fetal adrenal development. His research interests include the impact of glucocorticoids on placental function and DOHaD, most notably the role of placental 11β-HSDs, and the circadian biology of pregnancy. A particular focus of this work has been on how dietary omega-3 fatty acids can improve placental function and rescue the programmed cardiometabolic phenotype. Brendan is currently Deputy Executive Dean (Faculty of Science) and Professor (School of Human Sciences) at UWA.
