Claire Roberts
Professor Claire Roberts leads the Pregnancy and Birth Theme of the Robinson Research Institute University of Adelaide and directs the Placental Development Laboratory. Claire has significant expertise in cellular and molecular mechanisms in placental development across a range of marsupial and eutherian mammalian species as well as human. She has applied her discoveries to the challenges of obstetric medicine and has developed algorithms for use as screening tools to predict which women in their first pregnancy are at risk of developing the four main complications of pregnancy, preeclampsia, preterm birth, IUGR and gestational diabetes which together affect 1 in 4 pregnancies.
