Jeffrey Robinson

Professor Jeffrey Robinson undertook his undergraduate and clinical training in Belfast. He was appointed Nuffield Fellow in NIMR, Oxford where he began his studies on fetal physiology with Geoffrey Dawes and later with Geoffrey Thorburn. In 1980, Jeffrey was appointed Professor of Reproductive Medicine in Newcastle, NSW. In 1986, he became Professor and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the University of Adelaide and, on retirement from these roles in 1986, he was granted the title of Professor Emeritus. In the same year, he was awarded a CBE.

His research concentrated on fetal growth and development and extended into the developmental origins of health and disease. He has also been actively involved in multicentre clinical trials on many aspects of care of the pregnant women and her fetus; the most recent of which is concerned with limiting weight gain in pregnancy in overweight and obese women.
